Pleasing people since 1969

In 1969, Dan Evins opened an old country store that greeted drivers along the expanding Tennessee Interstate with homestyle cooking and hospitality. Created from scratch with hard work, a mission of Pleasing People, strong values, and genuine Southern hospitality, Cracker Barrel was formed.

Today, Cracker Barrel is a vibrant business grounded in a clear mission. Our brand is a home-away-from-home where everyone is welcome. Eggs sizzle, biscuits bake, and the scent of hickory smoke rises. We balance preserving the things that make us unique with the changes that propel us forward.

Our commitment to quality is at the core of who we are. We’re advancing our stores technologically while ensuring they remain a warm sanctuary from life’s routines. We’re giving back to the communities we work in and enriching the neighborhoods we call home. Giving back is part of who we are

Since 1969, our mission has been about Pleasing People®, which includes giving back to the communities we live and work in.

  • We formed the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Foundation to support numerous nonprofit organizations and programs. To date, we’ve given millions of dollars to various charities and nonprofit organizations.

  • In partnership with Feeding America®, Cracker Barrel is committed to helping end hunger in America. Through the Cracker Barrel Food for Families initiative, the company aims to address food insecurity, reduce food waste and support community needs through food.

  • Cracker Barrel Cares was created in 2005 to give our team members the chance to donate to help each other when facing financial difficulties.

  • Since 1996, our annual Employee Scholarship Program has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to our team members and their children.
